“A Look Back” – A retrospective exhibition of works by academic sculptor Mitar Petković
A retrospective exhibition of works by academic sculptor Mitar Petković called “A Look Back” will be opened at the NBS gallery at Slavija, Nemanjina 17, on Monday, 22 July at 7 pm. The exhibition will showcase a retrospect of works by sculptor Mitar Petković, spanning many years. Petković is an employee of the Institute for Manufacturing Banknotes and Coins – Topčider and has participated in the realisation of a number of projects at the Institute’s Coin Department. His participation in the design of Serbia’s honours system particularly stands out, and the collection includes the Order of the Republic of Serbia and the Order of the Serbian Flag as Petković’s authentic works.
Petković is also the author of the majority of models used when manufacturing circulating and commemorative coins, coins issued to commemorate the centennial anniversary of World War I, silver coins with the image of Nikola Tesla intended for numismatic collectors around the world, coins featuring the images of Orthodox Christian saints, renowned Serbs, as well as souvenirs and other objects. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process and the production programme of the Coin Department.
The NBS gallery at Slavija is open from 10 am until 6 pm, Monday to Friday. The entrance is free of charge, and the exhibition will be open to the public until 2 August.
