Exhibition “Suffering of the Roma in World War I”
On 25 December, the exhibition “Suffering of the Roma in World War I” was opened in the NBS exhibition space in Nemanjina 17. The exhibition showed archival material – around 50 original photographs and prints of postcards with photographs of Roma soldiers. The exhibition was organised by the citizens’ association “House of Roma Culture”. Its author was dr Dragoljub Acković. Mr Acković has published around twenty books and numerous texts about the Roma, has launched several magazines and radio shows, and has organised various events and activities. He is a member of several international associations of the Roma and deputy director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The exhibition was opened by the author and representatives of the National Council of the Roma National Minority and the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The orchestra “Stanislav Binički” took part in the official opening. The exhibition ran until 19 January 2018.
