150 years of the Serbian dinar

On Thursday, 21 December, dr Jorgovanka Tabaković, NBS Governor, opened the exhibition “150 years of the Serbian dinar” in the NBS Slavija building.

The exhibition shows the history of the national currency through the following segments: dinar – currency after the European model, dinar between the two world wars, dinar of the Socialist Yugoslavia, new dinar after the monetary reform, commemorative coins, and the currency of the Republic of Serbia. It also includes audio-visual content about Čedomilj Mijatović, one of the founding fathers of the Privileged National Bank of Serbia who adopted the Law on Minting the Serbian Silver Currency and restored the medieval name to that currency.

The exhibition was prepared by the NBS Communications Division/Unit for Exhibitions and Education, Cash Department and General Affairs Department/Archive.  

The exhibition was open until 31 January.

Visitor Centre
