Exibitions

The National Bank of Serbia presented a part of its numismatic collection to the public for the first time in July 2004, on the occasion of its 120th anniversary, by opening a standing exhibition titled “Money in the Territory of Serbia”. This exhibition is now enriched with a theme exhibition “Counterfeits”, devoted to banknote security features, and the exhibition “Coin Minting – from Conceptual Design to the Mint”. Exhibitions are prepared as part of different cultural events. They also mark important dates in the National Bank of Serbia’s history.

The Visitor Centre has showcased several themed exhibitions as part of various cultural events, as well as to mark important dates in the National Bank of Serbia’s history.

Serbia’s presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in 2007 served as an occasion for organising the first National Bank of Serbia’s exhibition abroad – “National Bank of Serbia – National and European Institution”. It was opened at the seat of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and then moved to Paris and Brussels.

As part of its educational and exhibition activities, the Visitor Centre tours the country with the exhibition “Money in the Territory of Serbia – from its first appearance until today” and the accompanying educational programmes.

In addition to exhibitions in the Bank’s historical edifice (12 Kralja Petra Street), a number of cultural events are hosted in the new NBS office building at Slavija Square. Soon after moving into the new office building in 2006, the National Bank presented its hall to the public as an exhibition space with the opening of exhibition “Going through the Treasury” by painter Olja Ivanjicki. The hall has so far hosted numerous Serbian and foreign artists, as well as art collections of Belgrade museums currently undergoing reconstruction.
