“My Banknote” exhibition at the NBS
On Tuesday, 26 November 2024, at 6 p.m., the exhibition “My Banknote” will open in the NBS space at Slavija Square (17 Nemanjina Street), Belgrade.
The exhibition will showcase conceptual designs of banknotes created by students of the Faculty of Digital Arts of Metropolitan University as part of the competition also titled “My Banknote”.
The shortlist consists of twenty works created using digital printing techniques on a large format. The students drew inspiration from Serbia’s rich heritage – its history, science, culture, art and the beauty of nature. Authentic and original, the works adhere to technical banknote design standards, while at the same time aspiring to innovative and highly aesthetic graphic solutions.
The exhibition and competition are not intended as a criticism of current Serbian dinar banknotes, but serve as an encouragement for young people to expand their interests in graphic design and visual arts by engaging in a theme that is both highly inspiring and exceptionally demanding.
The competition and exhibition were jointly conceived and organised by Metropolitan University and the NBS. What preceded were months of collaboration between Metropolitan University professors and the NBS, with students being gradually introduced to the competition theme through in-depth lectures on banknotes.
A digital display of the works, available on Metropolitan University’s website, accompanies the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until 29 November 2024, on working days, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Entrance is free.
