Exhibition of paintings by Zoran L. Pantelić

An exhibition of paintings “The Mechanics of Dark” by Zoran L. Pantelić will be opened at 7 pm on Wednesday, 18 December, at the National Bank of Serbia’s exhibition hall in Slavija.

Pantelić will present his works created between 2017 and 2024, comprising a cycle of about 40 large-format works executed in mixed media. The formal components of these works are the ideas of abstract expressionist painters, dominant on the American continent in the 1950s and/or the surrealist concept of automatic drawing formulated slightly earlier. With a multitude of densely woven lines developing on a black background, Pantelić articulates a morphological pattern that shifts through numerous variations, which is described in the synopsis for this exhibition as: “A cautious walk on the thin ropes of dream and balancing at each stained intersection leads us into a parallel world of dark screens with faded signs of salvation... Each line vibrates, and the web we painstakingly wove is merely the creation of an autopilot to which we are forced to surrender.”

Zoran L. Pantelić (1961) has a BA in architectural engineering. He works in design, painting, film and photography. As a member of the Association of Serbian Painters, Applied Artists and Designers and the Association of Serbian Painters, he has showcased his works at all larger collective exhibitions organised by these two associations (Golden Pen, May Exhibition, October Salon, etc.), and held a number of independent exhibitions at home and abroad. He has received many awards and recognitions for his works: the special Borba award for architecture in 1992 for the “Victims’ Square” project, the Chamber of Commerce award for the “Fantastic City” project, the 37th Golden Pen award in 1995 for the stage design of the “Blue City” video.

The exhibition is open until 15 January, Monday to Friday between 10 am and 6 pm.
